
Try our delectable version of the classic truffle next time you host a dinner party.
Serves 6
Ingredients:
12 whole dried figs
250 ml Rooibos tea
50 g flaked almonds, lightly roasted
5 ml honey
grated zest of 1 orange
50 g 60% cocoa dark chocolate, chopped
Instructions:
1. Soak the dried figs in the
Rooibos tea until soft and plump.
2. Combine the almonds, honey
and orange zest in a small bowl.
3. Remove the figs from the Rooibos tea
and cut a small slit in the side of each fig.
4. Stuff each fig with the almond mixture.
5. Place the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (don’t let the bowl touch the water), stirring until the chocolate has melted.
6. Dip each little fig’s bottom in the
chocolate and allow the excess to run
down before placing it onto a sheet
of baking paper to set.
