Jennifer Aniston shares advice on health, yoga, and 10-minute workouts.
What’s your best health tip?
“I always try to sleep for at least eight hours a night and, of course, water, water, water! “But occasionally I just have to have a Diet Coke—there’s nothing like it!”
You’re famous for loving yoga. Why are you such a fan?
“Oh gosh, I noticed dramatic changes in my body after I started doing yoga, but I also think you have to shake things up,” says Aniston. “I have a Spin bike, an elliptical, and a treadmill, and I do cardio for at least 20 minutes a day. Even that short burst makes a difference.”
What’s your emergency 10-minute workout?
“The best quick sweat for me is getting on the Spin bike. I can take it uphill, I can take it downhill, I can sprint,” Jennifer Aniston says. “And it’s great when I need to make phone calls. I put on what I call my Janet Jackson headpiece, and I’m set.”
Do you take days off from exercise?
“Of course I do! It’s important to rest the body,” Aniston insists. “I can go a whole week saying, ‘I’m not going to work out.’ Your body will tell you what it needs.”
Do you have a favorite healthy snack?
“I love white peaches, when they’re in season, with a piece of string cheese,” Jennifer Aniston says. “And my not-so-healthy snack is chips and guacamole with a margarita. I’m so predictable, aren’t I?”
Do you like to cook?
“It’s a romantic idea of mine,” Aniston admits. “Do I do it often? Absolutely not! But when I do, I like simple things. The other night I made steak, grilled vegetables and a Greek salad. Soup is another healthy snack. My favorite right now is celery-broccoli-zucchini with basil.”
You turned 41 this year. What’s different about your body now?
“I’m sprouting more than one wonderful grey hair. My colourist gets creative with what I call my natural highlights!” Jennifer Aniston says. “I’ve always worn glasses for distance, but right when I turned 40, I was reading something and actually had to pull it away from my eyes and get my prescription changed.”
What’s your favorite workout music?
“I listen to ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘Just Dance’ when I Spin, and the band 1 Giant Lea during yoga,” Jennifer Aniston says.
What are the books that speak to you?
“I always go back to this book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz to find solace, Aniston says. On my nightstand right now? Jan Spiller’s Astrology for the Soul.”
