What colour is your dosha?

Determine your personal energy type and which colours represent you.

Your personal energy type in the Ayurvedic tradition can determine which colours you need for more vitality.

Each person encompasses three distinct doshas (mind-body energetic principles), according to Ayurveda: Light, airy Vata initiates movement in the body and mind; heating, fluid Pitta controls transformation; and heavy, solid Kapha provides stability.

In order to optimise your energy, you need to keep all three doshas in balance through eating and exercise habits, spritual practice, and use of colour. In this chart, Malhorta guides you in finding your most dosha-appropriate colour of choice.

Characteristics

Balancing colours

Vata dosha

Thin, quick in thought and movement, talkative “Vata people, who tend to do too much, need grounding colours like gold and warm yellows and oranges.”

Pitta dosha

Muscular, determined, organised, intense “For pitta, cooling colours like ocean blue, silver, light green can balance heat and inflammation.”

Kapha dosha

Large-boned, compassionate, meticulous “Red, bright blue and shocking pink will stimulate heavy sluggish kapha.”
