Skin type, skin hype

Before you choose your beauty product, consider your skin type. Here’s what to look out for.

Normal skin
Feels supple and looks hydrated, but is not overly hydrated and has even pigmentation. It may occasionally get out of balance and have an oily T-panel (forehead, nose, chin), small outbreaks and dry patches.

Dry or mature skin
Has trouble staying hydrated, gets flaky, may peel or feel tight and dry. May have premature aging. Super dry skin requires a non-foaming cream cleanser, plus a heavier moisturiser.

Oily skin
Oily, especially in the T-zone, enlarged or blocked pores, poor circulation, blemishes. Use light-textured products and avoid anything heavy.

Sensitive skin
Easily irritated by weather, skincare products and food allergies. Red inflamed skin, blotchy, patches of dryness, includes rosacea and eczema. Super-sensitive skin requires a basic skin care routine, with plain cleansers and creams that contain little or no harsh chemicals.

Combination skin
Oily T-zone and normal cheeks. Prone to minor breakouts in T-zone, skin slightly out of balance. Use products that won’t aggravate or block your pores.
