Are you getting the full benefit out of your precious moisturiser? How you use and apply it has a lot to do with extracting its maximum value.
1 Always apply moisturiser to damp skin – within about three minutes after cleansing. The moisturiser will help to lock in water on the upper layer of the skin, preventing evaporation. When using a toner, leave the toner damp on the skin before applying moisturiser to seal in the hydrating benefit from the toner.
2. Do not apply your moisturiser around the eye area as skin around the eyes is thinner than the skin on rest of the face. Most moisturiser formulations can be too rich for this delicate area and could cause the skin around the eye to retain fluid and become puffy. Use specific eye creams instead.
3. Use moisturisers containing an SPF during the day to protect the skin from the sun, but not at night. Over-use could clog the pores.
4. Don’t forget your neck. Always apply moisturiser over the throat and neck area using an upward stroking motion to avoid wrinkling and dullness.
5. Wait 5-10 minutes for your moisturiser to settle before applying make-up, allowing skin to absorb all of its nutrients. If you are in a hurry, use a dry brush and sweep over your face to pick up excess moisturiser and avoid foundation becoming streaky.
