Morning Motivation

If evening drinks and dinner functions are cutting into your usual workout time, consider getting up an hour earlier and getting your daily exercise in the morning.

Try these tips for get-up-and-go motivation:

  • Lay out your workout clothes and shoes next to your bed before going to sleep. Knowing it’s all ready for you in the morning will make it easier to get up and dressed. And once you’ve got your gear on, you’re halfway there.
  • If you wake up feeling tired, tell yourself you only need to do 20 minutes. Chances are you’ll get into it as you go along and end up doing more. And if not, 20 minutes is better than nothing.
  • Think of exercise as a non-negotiable part of your morning routine, like showering or brushing your teeth. You don’t ask yourself “Do I feel like brushing my teeth today?” so don’t do it with your workout routine either. Have a happy, healthy day!
