Ongoing Challenges…

Print page

The past couple of weeks have really been tough for me both food and exercise-wise. For some reason while my body was acclimatising to Simone’s training style, my appetite was fighting for acknowledgement as well! The more I exercised the hungrier I got. Murphy never misses an opportunity so round about the same time, other areas of my life were jumping on the unhappy bandwagon fighting for space, so my willpower has been fighting a sometimes losing battle with my appetite.  I must say though that the mind is an awesome tool and has been keeping me in check, much like the proverbial angel on my shoulder, reminding me to keep my eye on the goal. It has been DIFFICULT! The cravings I was having I’d never had in my life, not even when I was pregnant!

You see that’s the trouble with being an emotional eater. I somehow got despondent and stopped preparing my own meals so I started eating meals from the canteen. Not a good idea for anyone trying to lose weight as I cannot account for what is used when preparing the food. Nevertheless, I tried making the best choices available. I was majorly excited each time I got onto Claire’s scale and lost something, the least being 600g. I’m hoping this coming week is going to work better for me. I need to focus like never before because my mom’s visiting this weekend as it is her 60th birthday and we plan to give her a party weekend to remember. I don’t have to explain what that means food and alcohol-wise! Pray for me y’all! We have targets to meet!

Being an emotional eater myself – I totally appreciate the challenges of sticking to your good food when your life gets hectic…. and celebrations! Such an opportunity to throw all caution to the wind!
However, I hope you thoroughly enjoyed celebrating your Mom’s 60th birthday while maintaining some control over what you ate and drank. Sometimes we have to make the extra effort to stick on this side of moderation…
Its great to read about your journey. Good to know i am not alone :-)
Keep going girl – you are doing very well! You can certainly go the distance!
