Me + weight loss = absolute bliss

Print page

Yesterday was the first time I’ve weighed myself in two weeks (because I was terrified of seeing “my number” go up anymore than it already had) BUT, I’m happy to report: I’ve lost OVER (yes over) 3.5KG!!!

I’ve been packing a healthy lunch every day, staying away from my usual late-night favourites such as the KFC Rounder or McDonalds Quarter Pounder Deluxe burger (which I’d usually blame on my boyfriend’s persistent “you’re the most beautiful girl in the world” speech which allows eating saturated-fat foods). And I’ve been training – HARD. Try running with dumbbells or pyramid situps. Shoo.

But it’s paying off AND it’s amazing that I’ve actually managed to make it to the gym for every session. It’s like my body is on automatic and I don’t even think about going, I just go. After a while it becomes the same as going to work. You don’t wake up and decide that you’re going, you just do.

The excitement of losing those first few kilos made it all worthwhile and I finally realized that “hard work pays off” speech my mom used to drill into me when I was at school. Moms (sigh), they’re always so annoyingly right.

Tomorrow’s another day, another session, and hopefully another drop in on the scaleJ

Exercise tip:  Burn more…
Your kJ burn during passive activities can be accelerated by fine-tuning your metabolism. Our metabolisms all run (like engines) at different rates, depending on: age, body type, fitness level, genetics and weight. A good fitness level and regular exercise speeds up the metabolism, which then burns more kJ.

The silly-but-true quote: I have to exercise in the morning before my brain figures out what I’m doing - Marsha Doble
